Callie Shanahan
Callie Shanahan, a left-catching goaltender from Commerce Township, Michigan, joined the New York Sirens of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) at age 22 after completing a four-year NCAA career at Boston University.
Shanahan spent her entire collegiate career with the Terriers, appearing in 77 games and finishing with 32 wins. Her senior season in 2024–25 represented the high point of her time at BU: she served as an assistant captain, started 29 of 30 games, posted a goals-against average of 1.81 and a save percentage of .924, and recorded three shutouts — all career bests. Her 18 wins that year were the most she earned in a single collegiate season.
Her freshman year at Boston University also drew immediate attention. Shanahan appeared in 14 games and posted a .925 save percentage, earning a unanimous selection to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. By her senior year she had added Hockey East All-Tournament Team recognition, along with Hockey East All-Academic Team honors — awards she also received in 2023–24 and 2021–22.
On the international stage, Shanahan won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2020 IIHF Women's World U18 Championship. She was invited to play in the USA Hockey Collegiate Series against Team Canada in both 2022 and 2024, and received invitations to the USA Hockey National Festival prior to her freshman year and again during her junior season.
