Born in Prague on August 20, 1997, Dan Vladar arrived in North America in 2015 after the Boston Bruins selected him in the third round — 14th pick of that round — of the 2015 NHL Draft. Standing 6'5" and catching left, he spent four seasons working through the minor leagues before reaching the NHL, making his debut with Boston during the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs.
His first regular-season NHL action came in 2020-21, when he appeared in five games for the Bruins, going 2-2 with a 3.40 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage. That brief audition led to a trade to Calgary, where Vladar would spend the next four seasons establishing himself as a regular NHL presence.
With the Flames in 2021-22, Vladar went 13-6 in 23 starts, posting a 2.75 GAA and a .906 save percentage — including two shutouts. The following season, 2022-23, he appeared in 27 games, finishing 14-6 with a 2.91 GAA and a .895 save percentage. Those two seasons represented the steadiest stretch of his Calgary tenure.
The 2023-24 campaign proved more difficult. In 20 appearances Vladar went 8-9, his GAA climbing to 3.62 and his save percentage dropping to .882. He rebounded in 2024-25, playing 30 games and going 12-11 with a 2.80 GAA, a .898 save percentage, and two shutouts — bringing his Calgary shutout total to four across four seasons and matching his career shutout total through that point.
After five seasons with Calgary, Vladar moved to the Philadelphia Flyers. Through the 2025-26 season he has appeared in 52 games, going 29-14-7 with a 2.42 GAA and a .906 save percentage — his highest win total in any single season to date. His NHL career record across 157 games stands at 78 wins, 48 losses, and 23 overtime losses, with a 2.81 GAA, a .898 save percentage, and 4 shutouts.
