Samuel Ersson was born on October 20, 1999, in Falun, Sweden — and when the Philadelphia Flyers selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft (19th pick of the round), few could have predicted he would become a fixture in their crease for several seasons to come.
The 6'3", 194-pound left-catching netminder made his NHL debut with Philadelphia in 2022-23, appearing in 12 games and posting a 6-3 record with a 3.07 GAA, a .899 save percentage, and one shutout. It was a measured introduction to the league.
