Harrison Meneghin
Harrison Meneghin was born on September 13, 2004, in Surrey, British Columbia. The left-catching goaltender stands 6'3" and weighs 177 pounds. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round, 13th pick, of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Meneghin's path to that selection involved two separate instances of being passed over. He was not chosen in his first year of eligibility for the Bantam draft, then again went undrafted in his first NHL draft year before Tampa Bay selected him the following year. After being drafted, he signed with the Lightning following a Western Hockey League playoff run that ended with a trip to the Memorial Cup final, a run in which he was named WHL playoff MVP and helped his team win the WHL championship.
That playoff run unfolded in the shadow of profound personal loss. Meneghin's father died suddenly and tragically at the last game of the regular season. With support from his team and family, he returned to compete in the playoffs and helped lead that championship drive. InGoal Magazine has covered Harrison Meneghin in one podcast appearance.
On [1], Meneghin discussed the adversity he faced, including the death of his father, the experience of going undrafted in his first eligible year, attending development camp and main camp with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and what it was like to be part of the same organization as Andrei Vasilevskiy. He also spoke to what the journey can look like for young goaltenders when things do not unfold as planned.
Meneghin has not yet appeared in an NHL regular season game.
