Born in Kempele, Finland on March 11, 2000, Justus Annunen was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 64th overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound left-catching goaltender spent several years developing in the Avalanche system before making his NHL debut, and his path through the league has taken him from Colorado to Nashville over a career that now spans 80 games at the NHL level.
Annunen's first two appearances in the NHL came in 2021-22, when he went 1-0 in two games for Colorado. The following season he again saw limited action, appearing twice and finishing 1-1. Those early looks gave way to a more substantial role in 2023-24, when he started 14 games for the Avalanche and posted a 2.25 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage, going 8-4 with 2 shutouts.
