Martin Brodeur was born on May 6, 1972, in Montréal, Quebec, and went on to play 22 seasons as a goaltender in the National Hockey League. Selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round, 20th overall, in the 1990 NHL Draft, he spent 21 of those seasons in New Jersey, accumulating a career record of 691 wins and 397 losses across 1,266 games played. His career goals-against average was 2.24, his save percentage .912, and he recorded 125 shutouts over the course of his time in the league.
