Martin Brodeur was born on May 6, 1972, in Montréal, Quebec, and went on to play 22 seasons as a goaltender in the NHL. Selected 20th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the 1990 NHL Draft, the left-catching netminder spent 21 of those seasons in New Jersey, building one of the most statistically documented careers in the history of the position.
Over 1,266 regular-season games, Brodeur posted 691 wins, 397 losses, and 49 overtime losses, with a career goals-against average of 2.24, a save percentage of .912, and 125 shutouts. He stood 6'2" and weighed 220 pounds. With the Devils, he was part of three Stanley Cup championship teams and five Eastern Conference championship runs across 17 postseason campaigns.
