Born Sep 3, 2002 · Hamilton, ON, Canada
Tia Chan
Tia Chan was 19 years old when she represented China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, one of the more uncommon paths to the Games in women's hockey. Born in Hamilton, Ontario on September 3, 2002, Chan holds Chinese-Canadian dual heritage — she is also known by her Chinese name, Chen Tiya (陈提娅) — and has carried that dual identity across multiple hockey systems on multiple continents.
Chan played college hockey with the UConn Huskies, developing her game in the NCAA before pursuing professional experience in the Zhenskaya Hockey League with KRS Vanke Rays, a club with strong ties to Chinese women's hockey development. Her time in Russia's ZhHL placed her among the professional ranks while she was still in the early stages of her career.
PWHL San Jose selected Chan in the 2026 PWHL Draft, bringing the Hamilton-born goaltender into the Professional Women's Hockey League. She wears jersey number 88 and catches right.
InGoal Magazine has no prior coverage of Chan at the time of publication.
