Wade Flaherty
Wade Flaherty was born on January 11, 1968, in Terrace, British Columbia. Selected in the ninth round of the 1988 NHL Draft — 13th pick of that round — the left-catching goaltender went on to appear in 120 NHL games across a career that took him through five franchises: the San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators.
Over those 120 games, Flaherty posted 27 wins against 56 losses, a 3.51 goals-against average, a .887 save percentage, and 5 shutouts. Beyond the NHL, his professional career extended through the American Hockey League and the ECHL. He later played for the China Sharks of the Asia League Ice Hockey before transitioning into coaching, where he served as the developmental goaltending coach for the Chicago Blackhawks.
