O​​n the eve of the Montreal Canadiens opening the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we go back to Jake Allen for his third Pro Reads wearing the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge.

Allen’s first Pro Reads with the Canadiens featured great advice on the importance of being comfortable on your posts, and the second installment continued along that theme but with more threat options. This time Allen talks about splitting the ice to create an easy read.

THE SCENARIO

Allen is at home in Montreal against the Vancouver Canucks for a second straight Pro Reads, but this time dealing with this turnover in his own end that creates a quick chance.

Is there anything about this freeze frame as rookie Jalen Chatfield that might play a role in how you read this play? How much information are you taking in at this moment?

By the time J.T. Miller get this puck behind the net, the most dangerous threat is pretty clearly Canucks captain Bo Horvat cutting into the high slot. What about Horvat matters at this point?
