Jeremy Swayman had already gone through the standard morning skate warm-up routine with the Boston Bruins, which included the typical static shots from the slot to the glove and blocker, before taking part in the usual assortment of line rushes, point shots and tips with the team.

Before the impressive Bruins rookie left the ice, however, he met up with long-time goaltending coach Bob Essensa along the boards at center ice for one more drill. It’s a routine that Swayman started at the University of Maine, one that continues on game days with the Bruins, and one he and Essensa kindly walked InGoal Magazine through to share with Premium Members:
