Last week, Vancouver Canucks goaltending development coach Curtis Sanford introduced us to a Pro Drill called Organizing Reps that is designed to eliminate delays entering and exiting the posts.

One week later, Sanford is the new goaltending coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs but his new job doesn’t change the principles behind the drill, or this follow-up focused on the technical components involved in executing it correctly. As he explained at the end of Part 1, “Organizing is setting our anchor and our alignment right away in order to set us up for the next play.”

In Part 2, Sanford walks us through the keys to a good anchor and proper alignment.

“The focal point is we want to have clean entries into our post,” Sanford said. “We want to have clean post integrations because if we’re dealing with less clutter in our games because we have established good standards and expectations of how we treat these moments, we are going to be able to connect the dots easier and have more clarity within our own game. That’s why we drive these small things home, because when you add them up, they become a big deal.”

So, what is the key to a good post entry for Sanford?
