Goalie Mindset expert Pete Fry is back with more key mindset tips that will help you become a better goaltender. Pete played in the Western Hockey League for the Portland Winterhawks and the Victoria Cougars. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils. Today he works with goaltenders of all levels, from minor hockey to professionals, helping them achieve more on the ice through developing their mental skills.

“You will walk (or butterfly slide) into the picture you hold of yourself”

The best way to for a goalie to predict the future is to picture it.

What do I mean by the best way for you to predict the future is to picture it?

A great example is a plane.

When a plane flies from Vancouver to Los Angeles, before it even takes off it has its route marked to the exact location it will land. That plane knows before it even takes off exactly where it’s going to end up. It knows its destination. It has a very clear picture.

Would you go on a plane without knowing where the plane was going?
