Miikka Kiprusoff was born on October 26, 1976, in Turku, Finland, and was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round, 12th pick of that round, in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Standing 6'1" and weighing 185 pounds, the left-catching goaltender spent his NHL career with San Jose and, primarily, the Calgary Flames before retiring in 2013.
Over 623 NHL regular-season games, Kiprusoff recorded 319 wins, 213 losses, and 64 overtime losses, posting a 2.49 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage, and 44 shutouts. Prior to his NHL career, he played in the Finnish SM-liiga with TPS and also appeared in the Swedish Elitserien with AIK IF and Timrå IK.
