Nicole Hensley
Nicole Hensley's path to professional hockey ran through an unusual stop: Lindenwood University, a mid-major program in the College Hockey America conference that most recruiting pipelines overlook. By the time she graduated, she had rewritten the record books there — finishing as the program's all-time leader in saves (4,094), wins (30), save percentage (.921), minutes played (7,117:44), and shutouts. Along the way she earned four all-CHA selections, was named CHA Goalie of the Week nine times, and took home four CHA Student Athlete of the Year honors along with four selections to the CHA All-Academic team. Her academic record matched her on-ice one: she was a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Born June 23, 1994, in Lakewood, Colorado, Hensley was recognized early in her home state, winning the Colorado Sportswoman of the Year award three consecutive times from 2013 to 2015 and earning induction into the Colorado Sportswomen of the Year Hall of Fame in 2015.
At the international level, Hensley has represented the United States at two Winter Olympics. She was part of the gold-medal team at the 2018 Games and returned for the 2022 Games, where the Americans earned silver. Her World Championship record across six IIHF Women's World Championship appearances includes three gold medals (2016, 2017, 2023) and three silvers (2021, 2022, 2024).
Hensley wears number 29 and catches left. She currently plays for the Minnesota Frost of the PWHL.
