NHL Goalies

After winning the Cup last season, Chris Osgood wasn’t mentally ready for the climb back. But the Wings goalie is back, showing his critics the playoffs are his time to shine.

“It’s all about heart with him” says Rychel, referring to report that Hall of Fame goaltender has been offered Colorado coaching post.

Pat Hickey: Is Patrick Roy biding his time while waiting for the Montreal Canadiens to offer him their head coaching job? That seems to be a distinct possibility.

Jose Theodore lost his job as Washington’s starting goalie after Game 1 of the New York Rangers series, but is expecting a bounce back season next year.

Game Reports

  • Osgood comes up great

When you are a goalie in overtime, somebody else always gets to be the hero. The Wings’ goalie was outstanding. This was Osgood’s defining moment of the 2009 playoffs.

  • It’s Ozzie time again
Chris Osgood’s regular-season struggles are a thing of the past. He continued his stellar playoff performances in Detroit’s 3-2 win over Chicago.

Heading into the East finals, Carolina was supposed to have the edge in net behind Cam Ward. Apparently, Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury didn’t get the memo.

  1. Glad to see a bunch of Osgood links – and to positive stories. We’ve been talking a lot about him lately. I can’t figure out why he gets so little respect. The guys a winner. I’d like to see him win again!
