Mason Gets 10th Shutout vs. Flames

First Rookie with 10 Shutouts since Tony Esposito

Congratulations to Columbus goalie Steve Mason who made 33 saves to beat the Flames for his league-leading 10th shutout. The last goaltender to post 10 shutots as a rookie was Tony Esposito in 1970, almost 40 years ago when he recorded 15. Mason has only 8 games left so a challenge to the record seems unlikely in this remarkable season.

David is one of the Managing Partners for inGoal Magazine. Of course he finds time for some goaltending of his own as well, and despite his age, clings desperately to the idea that some NHL team will call him to play for them - though in his mid-forties it'll likely be for a practice when everyone else on their depth chart has the flu.
