In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Boissonnault (or Boss, as she is known to teammates and on Instagram @MarleneBoss) shares fascinating insights into her path from a mostly self-taught goalie who learned from her dad and trying to be like Martin Brodeur, to a more structured goalie who now also coaches right up to the college level in Canada.
There are great lessons on health and mindset from her time at Cornell University, where she studied pre-med but also took psychology course) and endured a hip surgery. She shares great examples of the modernization or her game, including a 3-layer stance and what quadrant of the skate blade she wants to be on as part of a “Bring It” mindset and how to clear your brain of negative thoughts.
Boissonnault also shares stories about how an engineer convinced her to wear white as her signature pad color, and why she was willing to forgo that last season to play in a set of yellow Juuse Saros gear. There really is something for everyone in this hour-long interview.
