Carey Price On-Ice Stretch and Dynamic Warm Ups

Key Takeaways
  • Carey Price stresses proper warm-ups are essential 'especially for longevity' as a goaltender.
  • Price uses a golf ball kept in his bag to roll out the bottom of his foot as part of his pre-game routine.
  • The on-ice stretch Price leads at Day with Price Camp runs approximately 3.5 minutes and follows dynamic gym warm-ups.
  • Price's routine has varied slightly across years (2016, 2017, 2018 footage shown), reflecting his philosophy that every goalie warms up differently.
  • Consistency within a warm-up routine matters — Price repeats core movements across sessions while allowing for individual adaptation.

When we shared Carey Price’s off-ice warm up routine a couple of weeks ago from Eli Wilson’s annual Day with Price Camp in 2018, the Montreal Canadiens star couched it by saying “these are just some of the things I like to do before a game, before practice.”

Not all of Price’s pre-game routine was captured. He also talked about foam rolling in the Canadiens locker room before a game or practice, and while we’ve seen some of that in these sessions, especially using the golf ball he keeps in his bag to roll out the bottom of the foot, we haven’t captured it all on video. InGoal has, however, filmed most of the dynamic warm ups Price has led young students through over our five years at the camps, so we’re sharing some of that additional footage here because the reality is it has varied slightly over the years.

The other reality? As Price tells the kids here, warming up properly is really important:
