Dustin Wolf’s “Feel Good” Shooting Drill
- Place puck piles at the top of both face-off circles and between them for three shooting stations covering the entire slot.
- Each station includes three shots: one to the glove, one to the blocker, and one low along the ice — in that order.
- Wolf performs this drill at the end of morning skate specifically to build confidence and positive feel before game time.
- Low shots should be redirected up and over the glass to draw a whistle, helping the goalie reset and avoid puck battles.
- The drill was developed with California-based goalie coach James Jensen and has been part of Wolf's routine since his youth hockey days.
Dustin Wolf has been the goalie of the year in his respective league for the past four seasons, including two straight with the Everett Silvertips playing major junior in the Western Hockey League (with a Canadian Hockey League top goalie award in there as well), and in each of his first two professional seasons in the American Hockey League (to go with an MVP award).
So, it’s hard to believe the 22-year-old Calgary Flames prospect has a lot of days where he doesn’t feel good about his game. But when it happens, Wolf has a go-to feel good drill.
