We then rewind things to go through a sometimes winding and unique path to that first NHL opportunity, from being drafted by the Blackhawks, choosing college hockey over the CHL and why that became so important for him, to deciding to go overseas to Sweden for two years, the decision to come back, and an important summer in Kelowna with "friends of the program" Lyle Mast and James Wendland that helped prepare him for the season's opportunity with the Lightning.
