TPS is back in the goalie stick game. Kevin Woodley and Jonathan “Jono” Holloway of The Hockey Shop Source for Sports break down the new TPS Response 2K Pro goalie stick: the 18K carbon build, the weight and balance, the TP31 curve, the flex, and the one thing to know before you order, because the colour you get depends on your paddle size.
- Built from 18K carbon, the TPS Response 2K Pro is a genuine pro-level stick with a gunmetal grey and gold finish and 3D RubGrip rubber grip on the shaft.
- Weighs 550–650 grams by size and is well-balanced—no bottom-heavy feel despite the pro-level build.
- Comes in a single curve, the TP31: a P31-style pattern with an open toe and closed heel, suitable for goalies already using any brand's '31' pattern.
- Check paddle size before ordering—24-inch and 26-inch paddles come in bronze; all other sizes (22-inch to 27-inch) come in gold.
- Canadian retail pricing: C$369.99 senior, C$319.99 intermediate, C$289.99 junior, available at The Hockey Shop Source for Sports.
Jono is sitting in for Cam, who is away on assignment, and the stick in his hands is TPS’s new pro-level goalie stick.
Build and finish
The Response 2K Pro is made of 18K carbon, a pro-level carbon in a pro-level stick, finished in carbon gunmetal grey with gold accents. TPS’s 3D RubGrip rubber grip runs along the shaft.
Weight and balance
It comes in at roughly 550 to 650 grams depending on size, and it’s well balanced, so it doesn’t feel bottom-heavy.
One curve: the TP31
TPS makes it in a single curve, the TP31, a P31-style pattern with the toe opening up a little and closed at the heel: subtle rather than a big wedge. Any brand’s curve ending in “31” is close, and Jono uses one himself.
Flex
It sits on the stiffer side of pro-level sticks, though not the stiffest.
Bronze or gold: check your paddle size
The 24″ and 26″ paddles come in a bronze colourway; every other size, from 22″ to 27″, comes in gold.
Price
The Hockey Shop lists it at C$369.99 for senior, C$319.99 for intermediate and C$289.99 for junior. It’s a new stick, so there’s still limited testing and feedback on it. Questions about sizing, curve or which colour you’ll get go to the goalie experts at The Hockey Shop Source for Sports at 1-800-567-7790, goalie@thehockeyshop.com, or @THSgoal on social.
TPS, Lundqvist and Sherwood
Kevin also tells the story of the day a company that owned both Sherwood and TPS asked InGoal which brand to back: Sherwood with Martin Brodeur, or TPS with Henrik Lundqvist.
