NHLUllmark is 5-0-0, the third Senators goalie to win his first five
Ottawa has not lost with Linus Ullmark in goal this season. He made 29 saves in a 4-1 win in New Jersey on Thanksgiving Monday, and only two Senators goalies before him had won their first five games of a season: Dominik Hasek, with five, and Ray Emery, with six, both in 2005-06. One more win would match Emery. Tim Stützle, who had a goal and an assist, said the team found a way to win another big game, “and Ullmark was great.” (NHL.com)
The Devils had shots to spare, outshooting Ottawa 30-20, and Ullmark kept them off the board until Arseny Gritsyuk beat him through a screen with 5:01 left in regulation. (NHL box score, Field Level Media) New Jersey had already lost an earlier third-period goal when Ottawa won a challenge for goaltender interference. (NHL.com)
Since leaving the Oct. 5 win in Boston as a precaution, Ullmark has won all three of his starts. His season so far: five starts, five wins, a 1.27 goals-against average, and a .948 save percentage. The win was the 196th of his NHL regular-season career, four short of 200. (NHL.com player page)

NHLA surprise visit for Jason Myrtetus
Warmed our hearts to see this from long-time InGoal friend and ultimate Goalie Union leader, Jason Myrtetus, who is fighting stage 4 colorectal cancer with the same incredible energy he’s always fought to keep pucks out of his net — and supporting goalies everywhere as part of the Philadelphia Flyers broadcast team for the past 18 years.
No surprise to see the warmth and care from Gini Parent, the wife of late Flyers goaltending legend Bernie Parent as Myrtetus, who has bravely shared this battle to help others facing similar odds, prepared for another brutal round of palliative chemotherapy. HistoryLundqvist's first NHL win, over Brodeur and the Devils
On this day in 2005, Henrik Lundqvist beat Martin Brodeur for his first NHL win. The Rangers’ 23-year-old seventh-round pick was in his second NHL game, playing more than planned with Kevin Weekes out with a groin injury, and he allowed one goal on 21 shots in a 4-1 win over the Devils at Madison Square Garden. Brodeur gave up four on 23. (NHL stats) Lundqvist, the first star, made his best save in the second period, when John Madden broke away shorthanded, waited him out and tried the backhand, and Lundqvist reached it with his left pad. “It felt like a big milestone,” he said years later.
