David Hutchison.
Co-founder and CTO of InGoal Magazine. A goalie since age five — and a very experienced backup at nearly every level — Hutchison brings an M.Sc. in exercise physiology, a teaching background in math, physics, and computer science, and a lifelong passion for the position to InGoal's parent segment coverage and editorial direction.
Nanaimo, British Columbia
David Hutchison co-founded InGoal Magazine as a passion project rooted in his love of the goaltending position — originally with an emphasis on goalie masks — before meeting Kevin Woodley just ahead of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and setting the publication on its current path as the world's leading goaltending resource.
A goalie since age five, Hutchison has had a cup of coffee as a backup at almost every level short of professional — though the cups were small enough that you won't find a trace. A very experienced backup goalie, in other words. That deep personal connection to the position runs through everything he does at InGoal, especially the Parent Segment episodes where he draws on his own experience as a proud goalie parent and coach.
Before InGoal, Hutchison taught math, physics, and computer science at Shawnigan Lake School, where he also served as a boarding house director and Head of Rowing. He previously worked for U.S. Swimming at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in the lead-up to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics while furthering his graduate studies in exercise physiology. His academic background — an M.Sc. with training across science, math, and technology — informs his role as InGoal's CTO, where he oversees the platform's technology and development.
